My parents raised me without religion, and I was never able to make myself believe in it, even had I wanted to. Now I
am a fairly happy, optimistic atheist.
Our new atheist group is intended to be a fun way for local atheists to meet, and provides a forum for them to keep in
touch between meetings and to help keep each other informed about issues, ideas, events and activities of relevance
to atheism and to separation of church and state. It's also a way for agnostics and others questioning religion to
explore atheism.
As we grow I'd like us to find ways to be active and positively effect the community, as I see "social" and "political"
not as opposite or partitioned areas of life, but as near synonyms. I think we can have fun while learning to speak our
more, and we'll have each other for moral support at the same time. I hope that we'll attract many members who feel
the same way.
I'm known more for my honesty than for my golden tongue, but I can string a few sentences together without too much trouble,
and sometimes I even know what I'm talking about. I'm available by email.
